Florence USD Districtwide Math Bee Winners Announced
The Florence Unified School District Math Bee draws a great crowd every year, with as much buzz coming from the friends and relatives in the stands as from the busy kids in the competition! The districtwide event pits the top teams from each of the seven K-8 schools against one another to determine who is the best of the best.
Freedom Christian Academy Wins 11th Annual Pinal County Mock Trial Competition
Freedom Christian Academy won the Pinal County Mock Trial competition that was held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Pinal County Superior Court in Florence.
Freedom Christian Academy also won the Best Direct Examiner award for Malinda Blazek, Best Cross Examiner award for Brittnay Marsh, and Best Opening Statement by Moriah Salerno.
Florence Unified School District Crowns New "Queen Bee"
Florence USD held its district-wide Spelling Bee finals on Tuesday night, 1/22/13 at Circle Cross Ranch K-8.
Imani Nettles, Skyline Ranch took first place by correctly spelling "ineluctable" after runner up, Alina Townsend, Florence K-8, missed the word.
Imani then went on to correctly spell "giantesque" to lock in the win! Zoe Linderholm, Anthem K-8 took third place.Family in Magma Ranch Loses Everything in House Fire
Wednesday, December 19th, a fire broke out in a home in Magma Ranch. The family lost everything in the fire and is going to have to start over.
Luckily, no one was injured in the fire. There are 4 kids and 2 adults in the family. The children are Kyra (17), Dillon (17), Bryan (12), and Jasmine (18).

Magma Ranch Teacher Candace Rogers Wins SRP Science Learning Grant
Magma Ranch teacher Candace Rogers was recognized for winning an SRP Science Learning Grant in the amount of $3,981.20 to provide a Multi-grade science lab.
The award letter states, in part, "The Learning Grants by SRP program is designed to help educators provide math and science learning experiences that will have an immediate and productive impact on students.
